Learn English with Ali & Zainh.
Book 1 - 'My first English Book.'
An idea for a new book designed to teach English to Arabic speaking children. It will be fully illustrated relaying on visual recognition and labeling to learn new words. English words are found embedded in each illustration rather than in lists, to making English more compelling to learn.
Locations are all based on real life settings & actual places here in the Bahrain.
They will include:
Outside the House
In the Kitchen
In the Bedroom
In the Hall
The Backyard
The Bird Market
At the Garage
At the Beach.
As well as word and image linking, there will be a pictorial A-Z, (beginning with A for Ali, ending with Z for Zainh), Counting to 10 and colouring & word writing activity pages.
The project is in development and this is still a first draught. Characters need more refining and content is still taking shape, but I’m happy with the look and feel so far. It will be the first of my illustration projects to be done entirely on computer, using Adobe illustrator to draw the elements and Photoshop to finish. I have also made a custom palette of coloured paper samples scanned in to give the flat areas a subtle, ‘hand-made’, collage texture. It runs alone side a series of paper cut outs of Bahrain that I am working on which can be seen at markrafter.tumblr.com
